Spectrometry

It's an analytical technique used to analyze different types of carbon, alloy and stainless steels in order to know their chemical composition.

This test provides a fast and effective analysis of a solid sample of the material to be tested with an effective and accurate result (number of elements analyzed: 24).

Traction Tests

The traction test of a material consists of subjecting a standardized test tube to an axial tensile stress until it breaks. This destructive test allows us to know the properties of the material (resistance, creep, elongation, and striction).

Thermal treatment for Temple and Austempering

Heat treatment is defined as a combination of heating and cooling operations applied to metals and alloys in solid state, with the intention of heating or cooling them under fully controlled conditions of temperature, time and cooling to obtain the desired conditions or properties (normalized, water quenching, polymers and tempering).

Oven certified to API 6D standard (temperature ranges from 0 to 1080ºC) with a variability of + - 13ºC.

Thickness Gauge

Ultrasonic thickness gauges provide an accurate, fast and reproducible means to measuring wall thickness non-destructively from one side of the part. The test is based on the time it takes for the ultrasound acoustic wave to propagate through the part.

It's also used to determine the degree of nodulization in nodular castings, avoiding rejects.

Penetrating Inks

Penetrating Inks inspection is a type of non-destructive testing used to detect and identify discontinuities present on the surface of the materials being examined, which may lead to future material failures (Examples: porosities, pores and cracks).

Services - Penetrating Inks

Magnetic Particles

The inspection is based on the attraction of a metallic powder applied on the surface towards the discontinuities present in the material under the action of a magnetic field, and the accumulation of this metallic powder will reveal the location of the discontinuities. Detectable defects are cracks.

Polisher and Metallurgical Testing

Metallographic analysis is a highly valuable study for the characterization of materials. This type of test allows us to know the microconstituents, inclusions or phases in metallic alloys, and will allow us to relate the results of the samples with the physical and mechanical properties that we wish to obtain from a given material or relate it to problems of breakage or premature wear.

Brinell Hardness Control

The hardness test allows us to determine the resistance offered by a material when it is penetrated by a ball with standardized diameters (Ø 10 mm and 5 mm) of a metal other than the part being tested. The hardness will allow us to empirically know the resistance parameters that the material may have.

In nodular and gray cast iron, it's important to know the hardness to determine quality parameters according to the standards established by the customer.

Measurements in Rc, HB, HL and Vickers.

Ultrasound Equipment

The ultrasonic test is used to identify internal discontinuities in a part (pores, cracks, etc).

The method is based on the measurement of sound propagation in the enviroment that constitutes the part to be analyzed, and has application in all types of ferrous material. Its different techniques can be used for quality control and preventive maintenance.

Granulometric control

The granulometric control allows to know the size of the sand grains and to be able to clearly identify the quality requirements as established.

The procedure is carried out with the use of a dry sample of sand for a set time between 15 to 20 minutes passing through a series of sieves where the sand is deposited. Then, to determine the total percentage passing through each sieve, the total weight passing through is divided by the total weight of the sample and the result is multiplied by 100. In this simple way we obtain the granulometry.

Profile projector

The profile projector projects a magnified image of the profile of an area or features of a workpiece onto a screen.

Most commonly using diascopic illumination, dimensions can be measured directly on the screen or compared to a standard reference at the correct magnification (common use: gear angles, charpy test specimens, depths, etc.).
